Outfit of the Day: An Anniversary Dinner

Earlier this week my husband and I celebrated our 3rd year wedding anniversary.

Since I haven't been much for wanting to leave the house too much lately, I didn't want to do anything too big for our anniversary this year, so we decided to just have a nice quiet dinner out at Buon Appetito, a local Italian Restaurant. We came home from work and I quickly threw on a dress before we left for dinner.

Dinner was delicious. I had chicken marsala, one of my favorites, Tim had fettuccine pesto with shrimp, and we shared a cannoli for dessert. I wanted to end the evening with a buttered rum but they were out of the rum they needed to make it with, so alas, buttered rum is still on my bucket list. It was a great dinner and good to spend a quiet romantic dinner together for our anniversary.

Outfit of the Day:

For this night's outing I wore my H&R London Big Dot dress. The petticoat underskirt came attached to this dress! I paired this with black flats. And while we've been having really nice weather this winter in the California Bay Area, I threw on my red wool toggle coat to get me from the car to the restaurant ;)

Outfit of the Day: In This Seaside Town...

This past weekend was the weekend before my husband and my 3rd year wedding anniversary.

While I've been staying in more than usual these days, my husband and I decided to get out for a bit and enjoy a day at the beach side town of Santa Cruz.

To start the day, we headed to a vintage and retro clothing store called Cognito. It's an awesome shop with so many pretty dresses! I was hoping to get a peak of Trashy Diva's new Geisha Fans print but sadly their shipment did not come in time for our stop in. I did however get to try on tons of other Trashy Diva dresses, many of which were styles I've never tried before, and walked away with not one but two lovely dresses :) (reviews to come!). Tim also got a goodie while we were there and picked up a Hawaiian style shirt for his self that was all Miami Vice in style!

Waiting for Cognito to open... Open! Open! Open! ;) Cognito Clothing, Santa Cruz, CA

Another bonus of the day... visiting a friend at the shop! <3

After Cognito we headed down to some local surf spots just to take in the views and to see what was going on. Then we went to the beach boardwalk were we scarfed down fish and chips, fried calamari, popcorn shrimp, and clam chowder! We walked along the historic beach boardwalk which has been operating since 1907 and were amazed that so many of the rides were running despite that it's still winter and despite the rain that had just past! We then ducked into the arcade to keep warm and had a blast playing some of the games.

In the old arcade selection. Some real treasures!

It was a great day and while I don't like to leave my poor kitty at home alone too long when I'm not at work, it was nice to get out for a bit.

Outfit of the Day:

For this day's activities I wore my Trashy Diva 1940's dress in Chocolate Atomic and paired this with a navy cardigan, brown knee highs, and mustard peep toe flats.

Outfit of the Day: Double Holiday Weekend!

I named this post Double Holiday Weekend but this weekend was actually bursting with four holidays!

Last Friday, though it wasn't an official holiday, it was Friday the 13th. A day to be noted for sure! Anyone enjoy nature camping by the lake that day? ;) Saturday, in contrast, was Valentine's day <3... followed by Mardi Gras on Tuesday and then Chinese New Years yesterday, on Thursday!

Though we didn't get to celebrate each and every one of these holidays, my husband and I did get to celebrate Valentine's day and went out for a sushi dinner Saturday night. Then on Sunday, though it wasn't officially Mardi Gras, I did wear my Mardi Gras beads and my best Mardi Gras dress out while celebrating a double birthday in Napa for two of my best friends. It was an eventful weekend full of fun and pretty dresses!

Outfit of the Day:

For Valentine's day on Saturday I wore my Trashy Diva Tiffany dress which I was lucky enought to pick up last month during Trashy Diva's sale on sale! I paired this with my TUK Kitty heels! <3

For the double birthday celebration I wore my Trashy Diva Bustle Bettie dress in Mardi Gras print. While it wasn't officially Mardi Gras, I couldn't help but wish myself in the midst of the Mardi Gras festivities going on in New Orleans, so I paired the Bustle Betty with my Mardi Gras beads and a purple cardigan for added Mardi Gras color. And because I knew we were going to get into some walking in Napa that day, I opted to wear my black Mary Jane flats from Urban Outfitters... not sure yet, but I think my usual trusty flats might have gone kaput!

Did you get to celebrate any of the holidays over this past weekend? What did you wear? :)

Matching Your Dress To Your Teaware Part 13: A Peacock In White

I don't know why it took me so long to put these two beauties together!

This peacock teapot by Edie Rose is one I've had in my collection for almost a year and have blogged about it before here. I love that it's a teapot shaped like a peacock. The teapot has texture throughout it's body which gives the peacock's feathers and the flowers added definition. It is a very regal looking teapot. I love the subdued and yet somehow vibrant looking colors on this piece.

Trashy Diva's Katherine Dress in Peacock, like the teapot, has an overall white background with the focal point of the dress being the beautifully and richly colored peacock feathers embroidered throughout the waist and hips. Like the teapot, this dress also has a very regal feel to it. It has a classic 1960's silhouette which exudes grace, elegance, and sophistication.

This dress is actually one of my favorites of Trashy Diva's and was the first dress of theirs that I ever bought. I have it in black but the beauty of the white tempts me to buy this version as well. I found this one from Kittenish Behaviour who has this as well as many other sought after pieces by Trashy Diva.

Outfit of the Day: Birthday Dinner For Mom

My mom's birthday was earlier this week!

My husband and I took my mom and step dad out for a birthday dinner and while I was at it I also got to take out my new Trashy Diva Day dress in Green Kimono. I usually don't get to wear my pretty dresses during the week when I'm working so having an excuse to get dressed up after work was a nice change of pace. Plus I love my momma so it was to get to spend some time with her celebrating the special day!

Outfit of the Day:

For this day's activities I wore my Trashy Diva Day dress in Green Kimono. I paired this with basic black flats and a black cardigan to keep me warm.

Matching Your Dress To Your Teaware Part 12: Cross (Stitch) My Heart!

As some of you know, Royal Albert is my favorite brand for teaware.

They make such elegant and delicate teapots! One of my favorite patterns of theirs is their Petit Point pattern. Petit Point is so cute and remarkable at the same time!

Depending on how you look at it Petit Point either resembles cross stitching (which is how it was intended) or it can also resemble modern digital pixelation (which I'm sure is completely unintentional ;) ) In any case, just taking it in it's intended form, the first time I saw this pattern at my local tea house and teaware shop, Tyme For Tea, I fell in love! This pattern is so quaint and unique! How creative to put an embellishment otherwise dedicated to fabric on ceramic!

The Royal Albert Petit Point collection is a marvelous stand alone collection as is. However, when I found this beautiful cross stitched dress online I knew these two beauties belonged together. This beautiful dress is actually a refashioned vintage piece skillfully refashioned by blogger Jennifer Brasher of My Two Butterflies.

The floral embelishments in this dress are all hand cross-stitched. And if the floral cross-stitched motif was not enough to pair these two together, the colors in the dress are a perfect match with Royal Albert's Petit Point pattern down to the gold adornment rimming the teapot which on the dress is recreated by the cross-stitched filligree bordering the neck. So beautiful! <3

Outfit of the Day: New week, Two More Outfits of the Days!

Hello Friends!

This last weekend I got out of the house more than has been my usual lately and so I have not only one Outfits of the Day to share with you but two!

On Saturday Tim and I did some errands and picked up some lunch so since we had a couple stops to make I decided to go out wearing one of my pretty dresses! Then on Sunday I met up with some friends for lunch! It's been a while since we've seen each other (Halloween to be exact) so it was nice to meet up and get together for a change. We went to lunch and had some yummy Thai.

Outfit of the Day:

For Saturday I decided to wear my Hell Bunny Evie dress. It was the perfect dress to wear that day! We were having unusually warm, wonderfully sunny weather that day. It was in the low 70s! It felt good to be wearing this dress which is very open and breezy and left my arms and legs exposed to the sun. I paired this with some easy to wear black flats and was ready to go.

On Sunday, seeing as it was a little bit more of a special occasion, I decided to wear one of my Trashy Diva dresses, my Trashy Diva Sweetie Hearts dress! It was supposed to be warmer on Sunday but actually felt a bit cooler to me, so I threw on a red cardigan to go with this. I also paired this with my red Miz Mooz T-straps to dress it up a look a bit. This year I really want to try to wear more of my pretty shoes and not just my usual flats all the time and because we weren't walking far it was the perfect occasion to get out my red shoes!
