Outfit of the Day: One for the Mardi Gras Season

It's Mardi Gras season in New Orleans!

Sadly, I've never been to Mardi Gras, but that doesn't mean I can't take part in the festivities! Fat Tuesday is officially next Tuesday but since this was the last Saturday before the end of the Mardi Gras season I decided it was the perfect day to wear my Mardi Gras print dress and go out for cajun style food with my hubby for lunch.

I was really in the mood for some beneits and king cake but I wasn't really in the mood to bake anything myself or to drive all the way to one of our pseduo local New Orleans style restaurants to get them. Instead, I suggested to my husband that we go to nearby Union City to go to the Backyard Bayou.

While the Backyard Bayou doesn't have any beneits, hush puppies, or etouffee, they do have gumbo, which we shared a bowl of while filling up on cajun style seasoned crab. It was a delicious day.

Outfit of the Day:
For this day's festivities I had to take out my Trashy Diva Bustle Betty dress in Mardi Gras print. I paired this with black knit lace tights and a green cropped cardigan by MAK which I got from Modcloth I believe, about a year ago. It was kind of warm for the season so surprisingly no overcoat was needed. For a finishing touch, I paired this outfit with a pair of golden fan earrings which I got from Modcloth a few weeks ago.

Outfit of the Day: Double Holiday Weekend!

I named this post Double Holiday Weekend but this weekend was actually bursting with four holidays!

Last Friday, though it wasn't an official holiday, it was Friday the 13th. A day to be noted for sure! Anyone enjoy nature camping by the lake that day? ;) Saturday, in contrast, was Valentine's day <3... followed by Mardi Gras on Tuesday and then Chinese New Years yesterday, on Thursday!

Though we didn't get to celebrate each and every one of these holidays, my husband and I did get to celebrate Valentine's day and went out for a sushi dinner Saturday night. Then on Sunday, though it wasn't officially Mardi Gras, I did wear my Mardi Gras beads and my best Mardi Gras dress out while celebrating a double birthday in Napa for two of my best friends. It was an eventful weekend full of fun and pretty dresses!

Outfit of the Day:

For Valentine's day on Saturday I wore my Trashy Diva Tiffany dress which I was lucky enought to pick up last month during Trashy Diva's sale on sale! I paired this with my TUK Kitty heels! <3

For the double birthday celebration I wore my Trashy Diva Bustle Bettie dress in Mardi Gras print. While it wasn't officially Mardi Gras, I couldn't help but wish myself in the midst of the Mardi Gras festivities going on in New Orleans, so I paired the Bustle Betty with my Mardi Gras beads and a purple cardigan for added Mardi Gras color. And because I knew we were going to get into some walking in Napa that day, I opted to wear my black Mary Jane flats from Urban Outfitters... not sure yet, but I think my usual trusty flats might have gone kaput!

Did you get to celebrate any of the holidays over this past weekend? What did you wear? :)

Busting Out With The Bustle Betty!!!

Hello Kittens,

I have recently become obsessed with a facebook group, Desperately Seeking Trashy Diva, which I found through The Full Figured Chest's blog. The name of the group is pretty self explanatory. It's a facebook group for people looking for and selling their Trashy Diva dresses.

I love that all the ladies in this group are so helpful, so friendly, and love showing off their Trashy Diva dress! I also love that it's a great resource for finding older styles or prints of Trashy Diva dresses. As some of you fans of Trashy Diva might know, once a style sells out from the Trashy Diva website it's usually gone forever (unless you're lucky enough to still find it on another retailers website... though other retailers are rare).

Since I joined I have found two prints I can now add to my collection in the incredible Bustle Betty style.

Dress Review:

I love this 1940's style Bustle Betty dress which is slender without being a wiggle.

This dress features a pointed collar, capped sleeves, flattering darts and pleats all along the bust and torso, a bustle in the back, a slight peplum in the front, and the back of the skirt ends in a slight fish tail.

I first got this dress in the wonderful and fun Mardi Gras print from a seller in the group for a steal! When this dress later popped up in the group in my size in the beautiful Slap and Tickle print I could not let it pass me by!

I love that even though these are the same style dress the Mardi Gras print has a look which is easily dressed up or down while the Slap and Tickle print seems all dressed up!
