Outfit of the Day: Would You Like Cream and Sugar With That?

Last weekend I went to one of our nearby tearooms

I did not go though to treat myself to a spot of tea. Instead, I was there to help serve the tea!

I noticed one day a couple weeks ago walking past the tearoom that there was a help wanted sign in the window. I've kind of been toying with the idea of having the dream of one day opening a tearoom of my very own and seeing that this tearoom was looking for some part time help I thought it'd be a good way to get an inside scoop of what goes into the daily workings of a tearoom. Having a little extra pocket money would not be too bad either. So I put in an application, put on an apron, and started my new part time weekend job last weekend.

Outfit of the Day:
Friday:
On Friday I had some errands to run after work. I really felt like wearing some separates. I paired this brown woolly skirt from H&M from several years ago with a floral 70's style top I got in Korea also from several years ago. The top came with a cute flower and feather brooch. I paired this with brown sweater tights I got from Target a couple weeks ago, brown flats from the Gap Outlet from several years ago, a mustard MAK cardigan I got from Modcloth I think last year, and my trusty red wool coat from Target also from several years ago. For a finishing touch I wore some golden fan shaped earrings I got from Modcloth a few weeks ago. For the somewhat mild Northern California winter I was toasty warm.

Saturday:
Saturday was my first day working at the tearoom. I thought it would be fun dressing the part. I wore my Hell Bunny Emilie dress which I got from JBR Clothing (now Modern Pinup) a couple years ago. I paired this with a mustard MAK cardigan from Modcloth, beige Vera Wang sweater tights from Kohls from a couple years, and a pair of black velvet mary jane flats from Urban Outfitters from a couple years ago. For a finishing touch I wore a pair of cream colored flower studs.

Sunday:
On Sunday for my second day working at the tearoom I decided to keep to the black and white theme of the day before. I decided to wear this Steady Stella Wiggle dress which I got from Unique Vintage several years ago. I paired this with a pair of black with black polka dot tights from Nordstrom Rack from a couple years ago and a pair of black flats also from a couple years ago. For a finishing touch I paired this with a pair of sparkly black bow earrings but I forgot to take close up photos of them.

A Tyme for Tea

Early March on a fine sunny day in Northern California...

Sounds like an opportune time for a tea outing! I got to spend the morning with a long lost friend of mine from high school, Julianne! What a perfect way to catch up, take a break, and spend a good, relaxing time with an old friend.

Things were a little hoppin' at Tyme for Tea in the Niles district of Fremont the morning we were there... but really when is it ever not? Hustle and bustle were going on amidst our little sanctuary of our tea table. Still, I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable morning. Good time, spent with a good friend, with a hot pot of tea and plenty of savories and sweets to munch on!

And boy was there a lot of tea going on today!

My most trusted go-to tea place, Tyme for Tea, Niles, Fremont, CA

It was a lovely tea today. For the tea selection I picked a White Chocolate Mousse Black Tea while Julianne picked a Cinnamon Rose Tea. I knew my black tea was going to give me the jitters but I could not resist the sweet yummy flavor of a chocolate tea calling to me! Our first course for tea was blueberry scones with cream, lemon curd, and raspberry preserves. For the savories course (my favorite!) we were presented with chicken walnut tea sandwiches, cucumber and cream cheese tea sandwiches, mini mushroom turnovers, jalapeno and cheese crostinis, and a savory puffed pastry pinwheel. For the desserts course we had maple sugar cookies, petite fours, and white chocolate covered flaky peanut butter honeycomb balls.

After our tea we sauntered through the store a little, dilly-dallying. I became enamoured with some color saturated tea cups and saucers by Grace Tea Ware. Maybe next time I come in I will pick myself one of two of these lovely cups to take home (if they still have them) though it will take some considering which color or colors to chose. They are all so beautiful! I did pick up a lovely tea for one set in a teal blue with tiny red and yellow flowers on it. For as many teapots and tea sets I have this is only my second tea for one set... and only my first tea for one set if you don't include a one cup tea for one Alice in Wonderland set I got from ebay which was listed as a sugar and creamer to go along with a larger 4 cup Alice in Wonderland teapot...

Anyhow, aren't the colors on these cups and saucers gorgeous!

Maybe the loveliest... Julianne's favorite of the color saturated tea cups and saucers

After our morning and afternoon at Tyme for Tea I went for a stroll down Niles Blvd. to take a peak in my favorite stores, My Friends and I a few stores down, and at the end of the boulevard, Suda Mae Antiques. At My Friends and I, I adopted an orange cat (statue).

At home I enjoyed another cup of tea (decaf) with my leftover sweets in my new Grace Tea Ware tea for one.

Outfit of the Day:

And as I like to, let us end the post with the outfit of the day!

Today I wore my Steady Anna dress which I got a while back from DaddyO's, and a cropped navy knit cardigan from Modcloth. To finish off this look I had a vintage navy purse from Etsy, Blowfish navy flats, and a cat brooch from ebay.

A bit of personal flair!

"Different," she said, "with a special something and a very very personal flair."

LOL. Okay I get show tunes stuck in my head. Love "At the Ballet" from A Chorus Line. But I digress...

As some of you might have noticed I love my Chinese inspired velvet Mary Janes I got from Urban Outfitters over the Christmas season. They are slowly becoming my new go-to shoe for stepping out. They are flats which is my favorite kind of shoe to wear, plus they are furry on the inside which help keep my feet and toes warm even when it's cold and I'm not wearing tights. But at times, they could seem a little plain. So I got the idea to jazz these up a bit with hair flowers turned shoe clips!

I found these hair clips at Forever 21 and took them home for a whooping $1.50. I love Forever 21! While I like them as hair clips just fine, I figured they would be better served as shoe clips :)

And here you go! Pictures!

Why, Hello There Kitty!

First outfit of the year...

And here it is...

My first outfit of the year! Well, I actually wore this last weekend on the first weekend of January but it's taken me a while to post about it. After a week of winter break, hibernating at home, barely leaving the house and thus mostly staying in my pajamas and catching up on my shows or throwing on jeans to do quick stops out somewhere, I still didn't much feel like getting too glammed up in a dress and with the weather in California being pretty decent for the dead of winter (something close to 63 degrees!) I opted to go for an easy separates combination: the Freddie Knitted Top in Burgundy by Collectif, a faux wool houndstooth printed pencil skirt by Amanda + Chelsea from Nordstrom Rack, and velvet mary jane slippers from Urban Outfitters. You can't see it but these slippers are furry on the inside keeping my feet nice and warm! Also, taking a cue from Lana Winters from American Horror Story: Asylum, the finishing touch is a monogram brooch by Berricle from Amazon.

Outfit of the day, Outfit #1

Tim and I were busy all day Saturday running errands: dropping off his computer at the computer store for his own special secret project, then going to Joann's for supplies for my upcoming craft projects, picking up food for the cats at Petco, and picking up some a few groceries for us... we did have a break in the day for lunch with my sister at the new Mexican place by our house. It was the old Mexican place, La Cocina, which was one of my favorites for Mexican because they always had great horchata and good fish tacos but at some point La Cocina got a fresh coat of orange paint, changed ownership, and got a name change. It wasn't as good as the old place I remember but Tim liked their ceviche and they didn't charge us for extra sauces and sour cream.
