Outfit of the Day: Would You Like Cream and Sugar With That?

Last weekend I went to one of our nearby tearooms

I did not go though to treat myself to a spot of tea. Instead, I was there to help serve the tea!

I noticed one day a couple weeks ago walking past the tearoom that there was a help wanted sign in the window. I've kind of been toying with the idea of having the dream of one day opening a tearoom of my very own and seeing that this tearoom was looking for some part time help I thought it'd be a good way to get an inside scoop of what goes into the daily workings of a tearoom. Having a little extra pocket money would not be too bad either. So I put in an application, put on an apron, and started my new part time weekend job last weekend.

Outfit of the Day:
Friday:
On Friday I had some errands to run after work. I really felt like wearing some separates. I paired this brown woolly skirt from H&M from several years ago with a floral 70's style top I got in Korea also from several years ago. The top came with a cute flower and feather brooch. I paired this with brown sweater tights I got from Target a couple weeks ago, brown flats from the Gap Outlet from several years ago, a mustard MAK cardigan I got from Modcloth I think last year, and my trusty red wool coat from Target also from several years ago. For a finishing touch I wore some golden fan shaped earrings I got from Modcloth a few weeks ago. For the somewhat mild Northern California winter I was toasty warm.

Saturday:
Saturday was my first day working at the tearoom. I thought it would be fun dressing the part. I wore my Hell Bunny Emilie dress which I got from JBR Clothing (now Modern Pinup) a couple years ago. I paired this with a mustard MAK cardigan from Modcloth, beige Vera Wang sweater tights from Kohls from a couple years, and a pair of black velvet mary jane flats from Urban Outfitters from a couple years ago. For a finishing touch I wore a pair of cream colored flower studs.

Sunday:
On Sunday for my second day working at the tearoom I decided to keep to the black and white theme of the day before. I decided to wear this Steady Stella Wiggle dress which I got from Unique Vintage several years ago. I paired this with a pair of black with black polka dot tights from Nordstrom Rack from a couple years ago and a pair of black flats also from a couple years ago. For a finishing touch I paired this with a pair of sparkly black bow earrings but I forgot to take close up photos of them.

Hellooooo Beverly!

I came home from work today to find this beautiful creation waiting for me, the Bettie Page Beverly dress.

I've had my eye on this dress since last new years, 2013 when I first saw it at the Bettie Page store at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. While it's a dress I drooled over then, I tried to wrestle with some self-restraint as at the time I was already getting so many other Bettie Page dresses that were equally as lovely. Fast forward to now... I was lucky enough to catch this dress during Unique Vintage's pin up sale! I had originally ordered this dress in a large which is my usual size in Bettie Page, if not usually a little roomy in the bust, so I was really hesitant to order this in an XL when Unique Vintage called to tell me the L was all sold out. I initially told them just to refund my money back but then had a change heart and called them back to say go ahead and send me the XL. I am so happy I did not let this dress slip out of my hands! XL fits just fine! My measurements are 38-30-38 and I'm 5'3".  I do think the L would probably have fit slightly better.. a little more fitted with a slightly shorter hem but seeing as I swooped this on a sale I think the XL is just lovely!

The Beverly is a knit dress made out of 4-way stretch textured sweater-like material. It's light green in color with bits of pink, blue, orange and purple making a very subtle diamond pattern throughout the dress. It has short sleeves, a back zip, and is fully lined in satiny light green material throughout. It's pencil silhouette and textured knit material gives it a true vintage feel reminiscent of the days of Breakfast at Tiffany's and Jacqueline Kennedy as first lady.

Here I paired it with the Bettie Page green bow belt and a string of pearls. I can also see this paired with a brooch and white short gloves to keep it dressed up or simply with a headscarf to dress it down. The Beverly is a versatile and comfortable dress which is warm yet highly breathable that I can see being suitable in winter (with a coat) or spring or fall. While Unique Vintage still has some of these available for their sale in limited sizes, you can also order this dress in more size options from Bettie Page Clothing directly.
