Outfit of the Day: Catching up on January OOTDs

Hello Kittens!

Color me a bit distracted these last couple weeks. While it seems I'm always trying to catch up on my blog reading list and reading all your lovely blogs out there these days, I've also been struggling to keep up with a semblance of a blog schedule for myself. Not to kick myself about it or to reprimand myself over it or anything. After all, my motto of sorts especially when it comes to blogging is, do what you want :)

Anyhow, here are a few Outfit of the Days from January!

Outfit of the Day (first weekend of January):

I wish I could properly remember what I did this day while wearing this pretty outfit but alas, it was so far back it escapes me! I think we were out running errands this day. Maybe went out for breakfast? I remember being so proud of my cleverness though because my tights were actually double layered, a sheer white dot tight on top of a nude fishnet tight... My thick sweater tights were in the wash so I had to improvise. For this outfit I also wore my Trashy Diva Streetcar dress in Irish Polka, a vintage cream colored cardigan I got from Etsy a few months back, and forest green and cream B.A.I.T. Ida heels I got a couple years ago.

Outfit of the Day (second weekend of January):

Tim and I are basically mall rats. While I don't dress like I live at the mall, we do often like to go there and hang out. He likes to go into Spencer's and Vans, and I like to get pretzels and check out what's at Hot Topic, Forever 21 and scope through Nordstrom as we walk through. Anyhow, this day was another trip to the mall. We went out to lunch and did our usual haunts that day. It was rainy and dreary and I felt nice and cozy in my Trashy Diva knit Jenny, a vintage Ethel of Beverly Hills cardigan which I got from Etsy a couple years ago, brown sweater tights from Target from last year, a cozy animal print beret from Modcloth from last year, and a pair of basic black flats.

Outfit of the Day (third weekend of January):

On this day, I met up with some friends from college. We usually try and meet up at least once a year to catch up and stay in touch. However, this time around somehow we let two years pass! Anyhow, we met up over burgers and boozy milkshakes at a new restaurant called Broderick's in Walnut Creek. The food was great, the drink were fun, but the company was the best! It was another coldish and wetish day though not as cold or wet as I was expecting. In any case though, I was just not in the mood to don on a dress so I got out my fun wide leg Lorenza trousers from Collectif which I got from Modcloth a few years ago. I paired this with a sweater blouse by Darling which I also got from Modcloth a few years ago. For funsies I also wore this with a pair of black and white B.A.I.T. Idas (though you can't see them well in the pics) which I also got a few years ago. To keep warm I also wore a black cardigan (old) and a knit cap Tommy Hilfiger hat which I got from Nordstrom Rack a few years ago. And though it's not pictured, to get me from the car to restaurant, I also wore my trusty red toggle wool coat from Target also from several years ago.

End of the Year Outfit Roundup: My Top 10 Outfit of the Days of 2016

I really love putting together these end of the year Outfit of the Day roundup posts

While it's hard to chose which outfits should go in this post, I love looking back on the year at my favorite outfits. What I noticed this year in terms of my top picks is that I really loved mixing and matching separates this year. Also, I remember saying at the beginning of last year that I wanted to experiment more with shoes and hats, From this roundup, I'm glad to see I did in fact do that!

And so, without further ado, in chronological order, here are my top 10 Outfits of Days from 2016:

1) Modcloth Charming on the Quad cape, Steady black swing skirt, gifted dog sweater, with burgundy beret, and white and burgundy Chelsea Crew heels
from January 18

2) True Vintage 1960's pink and green sheath dress, with vintage straw purse, and pink B.A.I.T. heels
from March 28

3) Pinup Girl Clothing Orange Border print skirt, Trashy Diva chambray Trixie top, mustard MAK cropped cardigan, and mustard peep toe flats from Target
from April 28

4) Trashy Diva Trixie dress in Hurricane Ladies, vintage beaded pink cardigan, pink beret, and pink B.A.I.T. shoes
from June 13

5) Trashy Diva Louise Blouse in Turquoise Floral, Trashy Diva Chambray Circle skirt, and nude bow Pazzo flats
from June 18

6) Trashy Diva Sweetie dress in Pearl Harbor, vintage straw purse, and fruit fascinator made by me
from June 18

7) Pinup Girl Clothing Darling Dames skirt in Venus Fly Trap, Trashy Diva black Trixie top, purple cardigan, and Jessica Simpson flats
from July 21

8) Trashy Diva Annette dress in French Quarter, black cardigan, cat sweater clips, and basic black flats
from October 25

9) Target Wrap Wool Shawl collar coat, Steady black swing skirt, Trashy Diva Ashley blouse in Wine Dots, black asymmetric cloche hat, and Naya bow heels
from December 10

10) Target red wool toggle coat, Trashy Diva Audrey dress in black velvet, Heart of Haute Estelle blouse in cherries, red beret, and Miss L Fire heels
Posted January 7 but worn December 25

Going into 2017 I don't have any style goals like I did last year. I'm guessing from my most current outfits that there will probably more mixing and matching of separates which I love. I've also been doing a fair bit more trouser wearing-- perhaps there will be more of that even once the warmer months start to hit?

What are your style goals for 2017?

Until next time kittens! :)

Outfit of the Day: Spooktacular Separates!

I had a super busy weekend last weekend in the best of ways!

Outfit of the Day (Saturday):

On Saturday I went out with a friend to the newly reestablished Dancing Cat Cat Cafe in San Jose (welcome back Dancing Cat!) where we spend the morning taking a watercoloring workshop and painted some cats! (More about that in my next post ;) ). Later that evening, after the watercoloring workshop I went out with Tim to our local Halloween haunted house, Fear Overload, and got our Halloween fix for the day. After that we went to the local 80's arcade to end the evening playing some games.

It was expected to rain off and on that day and I wasn't really in the mood to don on a dress for the watercoloring workshop so instead I opted for a sweater and ankle trouser set. I just got this Lucy Fur Halloween cat sweater by Sourpuss from Cats Like Us a few weeks ago. They had initially sold out in my size and one of the owners, Julie Ann, was super awesome enough to notify me when they got my size back in stock after someone returned one. And for those that missed it and have been looking, Cats Like Us recently got a full shipment of reorders of this sweater in stock! I paired this sweater with a pair of ankle trousers by Myrtlewood which I bought several years ago from Modcloth. I wore this with a pair of basic black flats and for a finishing touch, a pair of cat earrings by Rosita Bonita which I bought from Trashy Diva last year.

Outfit of the Day (Sunday):

On Sunday another friend and I had plans to go out for tea at one of my favorite tea places, Tyme For Tea in Fremont-- look out for that post coming soon! :)

It was another rainy day, this time pouring raining, but I didn't let that stop me from getting dolled up in a fun creepy theme for October tea. For the occasion I knew I wanted to wear my Venus Fly Trap skirt by Pinup Girl Clothing which I bought from them earlier in the year. To give the skirt extra fullness I also added a crinoline under my skirt which I got for cheap from Amazon last year. I wore this with a basic black sweater which I got from a small boutique shop in Australia several years ago, an Elvira cardigan by Kreepsville which I got as a gift from my husband last week, and a pair of trusty basic black flats. For a finishing touch I wore this with a pair of spider web tights which I've had for several years but forgot where I bought them from (maybe Hot Topic?). I also wore this with a black hair flower I bought a couple years from our local vintage shop, Vintage Alley, and a pair of spider stud earrings, also bought from Vintage Alley a couple years ago.

Outfit of the Day: Firsts of Fall

Hello Kittens!

I've been surprising myself lately by having a semblance of an actual blog schedule! And so somewhat as usual these days, here is my most recent offerings for an Outfit of the Day post featuring outfits from this past week/weekend. :)

Outfit of the Day (Wednesday):

This past week my husband and I took my mother-in-law out for a belated birthday dinner. It just so happens it was officially the last day of summer that day and so I got to sneak in just one final summer outfit of the season. For this occasion I decided to wear my Trashy Diva Bonita dress in Cactus Rouge which is perhaps my all time favorite Summer to Fall transition dress. It's such a great print that works (in my opinion) equally well as a summer or fall dress because of the fun all over cactus print and the vivid blood red and muted cream colors. I paired this with a red cardigan which I got from Nordstrom Rack a few years ago, and a pair of Easy Spirit nude flats which I also got from Nordstrom Rack last year.

Outfit of the Day (Saturday):

On Saturday my husband and I went out to lunch and then ran errands and looked at Halloween decorations at the shops. I've been dreaming of starting the Fall with this 60's inspired dress, the Doll About You dress by Blessed Buttons Clothing, which I got from Modcloth a few years ago. While this dress could work equally well as a summer dress, because of its solid black color with accents of white, to me it really screams Fall. I wore this with a pair of basic black flats which I believe I got from Nordstrom Rack several years ago. For a finishing touch I paired this with fun 60's inspired earrings which I got from Luxulite on Etsy a few months ago.

Also, as you can see, this past weekend we got out our Halloween decorations! I'm looking forward to all the fun Fall activities and more Fall outfits!

Do you have a particular thing you like to do or wear for Fall?
