End of the Year Outfit Roundup: My Top 10 Outfit of the Days of 2016

I really love putting together these end of the year Outfit of the Day roundup posts

While it's hard to chose which outfits should go in this post, I love looking back on the year at my favorite outfits. What I noticed this year in terms of my top picks is that I really loved mixing and matching separates this year. Also, I remember saying at the beginning of last year that I wanted to experiment more with shoes and hats, From this roundup, I'm glad to see I did in fact do that!

And so, without further ado, in chronological order, here are my top 10 Outfits of Days from 2016:

1) Modcloth Charming on the Quad cape, Steady black swing skirt, gifted dog sweater, with burgundy beret, and white and burgundy Chelsea Crew heels
from January 18

2) True Vintage 1960's pink and green sheath dress, with vintage straw purse, and pink B.A.I.T. heels
from March 28

3) Pinup Girl Clothing Orange Border print skirt, Trashy Diva chambray Trixie top, mustard MAK cropped cardigan, and mustard peep toe flats from Target
from April 28

4) Trashy Diva Trixie dress in Hurricane Ladies, vintage beaded pink cardigan, pink beret, and pink B.A.I.T. shoes
from June 13

5) Trashy Diva Louise Blouse in Turquoise Floral, Trashy Diva Chambray Circle skirt, and nude bow Pazzo flats
from June 18

6) Trashy Diva Sweetie dress in Pearl Harbor, vintage straw purse, and fruit fascinator made by me
from June 18

7) Pinup Girl Clothing Darling Dames skirt in Venus Fly Trap, Trashy Diva black Trixie top, purple cardigan, and Jessica Simpson flats
from July 21

8) Trashy Diva Annette dress in French Quarter, black cardigan, cat sweater clips, and basic black flats
from October 25

9) Target Wrap Wool Shawl collar coat, Steady black swing skirt, Trashy Diva Ashley blouse in Wine Dots, black asymmetric cloche hat, and Naya bow heels
from December 10

10) Target red wool toggle coat, Trashy Diva Audrey dress in black velvet, Heart of Haute Estelle blouse in cherries, red beret, and Miss L Fire heels
Posted January 7 but worn December 25

Going into 2017 I don't have any style goals like I did last year. I'm guessing from my most current outfits that there will probably more mixing and matching of separates which I love. I've also been doing a fair bit more trouser wearing-- perhaps there will be more of that even once the warmer months start to hit?

What are your style goals for 2017?

Until next time kittens! :)

Outfit of the Day: From Thanksgiving Weekend

Hello Kittens!

I was meaning to post this much much sooner but as what happens sometimes life stuff gets in the way. Thankfully, it's all been the good kind of life stuff, just basic busyness of the holidays and fun with friends. Anyhow, here are some Outfits of the Day from Thanksgiving weekend!

Outfit of the Day (Thanksgiving Thursday):

On Thanksgiving Tim took me out to breakfast before the family came over for dinner. For this day's festivities I decided to wear one of my favorite Autumn dresses, my Pinup Girl Clothing Havana Nights dress in Warm Toned Cabana Stripes which I got a couple years ago from ebay. I layered this one up for the weather that has quickly turned cold. I paired this with a black cardigan from the Gap from several years ago, red opaque tights which I think I got from Kohls a couple years ago, a red wool toggle coat from Target from several years ago, and a pair of basic black flats from Zappos from a couple years ago.

Outfit of the Day (Friday):

On Friday because she couldn't make it for Thanksgiving dinner, we met up with Tim's mom for a belated Thanksgiving lunch. Later that night Tim and I went out to a Friendsgiving celebration with a bunch of his friends from high school.

For this day, I decided to take the wiggle challenge proposed by fellow blogger Emily from Thoroughly Modern Emily. As it turns out I actually completely missed her wiggle week which she did the week of 11/19-11/25, and since I'm also posting this super late, I really missed her wiggle week by a lot! Anyhow, I did want to get on board with her challenge of embracing the wiggle and trying to be more comfortable in our own skin and so I picked a wiggle to wear for this day. This Stop Staring Edie dress in black plaid has been sitting in my closet for ages now-- though not from lack of love for it. I got this dress a few years ago from a local vintage reproduction shop, Vintage Alley. I paired this with a hand knit orange short sleeved cardigan I got last year from another somewhat local vintage reproduction shop, 23 Skidoo. For extra warmth I also paired this with some fleece lined opaque black tights from Target from last year and though I didn't picture it here, I did end up wearing my red wool toggle coat from Target over this and as is my usual, for comfort, I wore a pair of basic black flats which I got several years ago from Zappos.

Outfit of the Day (Saturday):

On Saturday I went out with a friend to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! As I saw another friend from facebook do, I decided to be super festive and go in theme to the event! Trying to put together an outfit that seemed to fit the stylistic theme of the movie I wore my Trashy Diva Ashley top in Wine Dots (recently re-released in a different version earlier last week!), paired with a black swing skirt from Steady which I think I got from Unique Vintage from several years ago, brown sweater tights from Target from last year, and a beige wrap wool shawl coat also from Target from a couple years ago. For finishing touches (which I feel really make the outfit) I wore a black asymmetric cloche hat from Nordstrom Rack from a couple years ago and a pair of ribbon tie heels by Naya which I got from Amazon several years ago.

Outfit of the Day (Sunday):

Sunday was the last day of this fun filled busy weekend and I got to continue the fun this day by going with a friend to my favorite movie theater, the historic Stanford Theater in Palo Alto. For this day I picked another wiggle dress living in my closet which I bought a couple years ago and have been trying to muster up the courage to wear-- my Bettie Page Matilda dress which I found a couple years ago on ebay. Oh how much I love the Bettie Page (now Tatyana) designs from back in the day! Because it was absolutely necessary, I layered up this outfit to keep warm. I paired this with a vintage brown cardigan with embroidered leaves which I got a couple years ago from Etsy, as well as a plaid cape by Mono B which I got a couple years ago from Modcloth. For a finishing touch I also wore a pair of polka dot tights from Nordstrom Rack from a couple years ago, a pair of brown houndstooh flats from the Gap Outlet from several years ago, and a brown fedora from TJ Maxx from last year.

Vacation Slideshow: Fun in Florida, Part 2

Hello Kittens!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving (to my American friends or those that celebrated along with us) and a fun and productive black Friday/small business Saturday for those that are participating this year-- which I hope for the sake of fun shopping was most of you! :D

Well then, I'm just going to pick up where I left off with my Vacation Slideshow :)

Day 4 (Saturday):

Saturday was the day of my cousin's wedding! We headed out to the west coast of Florida in the late morning and made it with a few hours to spare before the wedding. Since it took a few hours to drive out there we decided to book a hotel and stay the night. Totally worth it. The view from our hotel room at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott was amazing! I only wish we had more time to spend there!

My cousin got married on beautiful Sanibel Island, a residential island with lots of bike paths and quiet beaches. On the way to the wedding location we drove down a road called Rabbit Road. The residents on this road must be really fun. Most all of the mailboxes had rabbits on them!

The wedding was absolutely gorgeous. My cousin and his new wife timed it perfectly. There was a sunset at the beach just after the ceremony which was a sweet and beautiful touch.

Outfit of the Day:

It was a casual wedding on the beach followed by a reception in the garden so, as the dress code suggested, I decided to keep it casual for the wedding. I wore my Trashy Diva L'Amour dress in Crimson Clover which I paired with a vintage pink shrug I bought a few months ago on Etsy and a pair of basic navy flats by Rocket Dog which I bought several years ago from Zappos.

Day 5 (Sunday):

On Sunday, the day after the wedding, I woke up to an absolutely beautiful view from our balcony. I had to take advantage of this beautiful quiet view and enjoyed a light breakfast, coffee, and a few chapters of my book while sitting out there on the balcony as Tim slept in.

I was sorry to say goodbye to our beautiful view when check out time came, but as is too often the case when we travel, we had things to do, places to go, people to see!

We took our time heading back to South Florida though enjoying the views from the road, a few stops along the way, and (achievement unlocked) a stop at the Waffle House for breakfast-lunch when we saw it!

Outfit of the Day:

On this day I wore my Trashy Diva Pontchartrain skirt and Trashy Diva chambray Trixie top. I paired this with a pair of basic navy flat by Rocket Dog from Zappos.

Day 6 (Monday):

On Monday Tim and I headed to Legoland to spend the day there with my other cousin, her husband, and their two kids. I picked Legoland as our theme park destination this trip not only because my cousin has a season pass for there, which makes it easy for her, but also because it is the site of historic Cypress Gardens which Legoland brought back and renovated back in 2011.

Cypress Gardens, originally opened in 1936, was super popular in the 50's and 60's and was largely known for their beautiful botanic gardens, water skiing, waterskiing shows, and their southern belles. There were a few movies and several post cards from this time showcasing these features including some movies staring Esther Williams.

Outfit of the Day:

I picked out my most frilly dress for visiting the Belles this day, my Pinup Girl Clothing Ginger dress which I bought several years ago from Modcloth (A.K.A. the Miss Shortcake dress). I paired this with the most comfortable shoes I packed for all the walking, a pair of ankle strap black flats by Blowfish from Zappos, and a vintage pink shrug which I bought a few months ago from Etsy.
