Vacation Slideshow: Fun in Florida, Part 1

Hello Friends!

Happy (American) Thanksgiving!

Sorry for the long silence on the blog. As you might have guessed from this blog post though it was due to a wonderful fun filled vacation!

Earlier this month Tim and I got to take a vacation to Florida for my cousin's wedding and as we do when we are in Florida, we went around a lot and had a lot of fun!

Day 1 (Wednesday):

Outfit of the Day:

The first day of the trip was just flying so I was sure to wear a comfy dress. I opted to wear my Trashy Diva Circle Day dress in Venice Nights. I paired this with a navy cropped cardigan by MAK which I bought a couple years ago from Modcloth and a pair of comfy black ankle strap flats by Blowfish which I bought a couple years ago from Zappos.

Day 2 (Thursday):

Thursday was a slow and relaxing day. We spent most of the day at my grandfather's house, then went and picked up our rental car, and went to the mall for a bit with my grandmother.

Outfit of the day:

For this day, our first day in Florida, I wanted to wear my Pinup Girl Clothing Jenny skirt in Orange Branch border print. I paired this with a black top I bought several years from Target and a pair of black ankle strap flats from Zappos.

Day 3 (Friday):

The Friday we were in Florida happened to be Veteran's day. We completely forgot this and didn't realize until we got to the beach and saw that absolutely every parking spot in our usual parking structure was taken! And here I was thinking that it was going to be a slow day at the beach! In any case we had a wonderful day at Hollywood beach-- one of my all time favorite beaches ever. We got to do something I've been really wanting to do, parasailing, and we got to try out the new flowrider, the simulated surfing machine, that just opened at this beach about a year ago.

Outfit of the Day:

I had a completely different outfit picked out for the day but since we were at the beach all day I ended up just wearing a lightweight jersey dress I like to wear as a beach cover up. I bought this one a couple of years ago from Nordstrom Rack.

Even though this happened later this same day, I'm going to put these photos right here.

Before the day was through Tim and I went to Santa's Enchanted Forest, a south Florida Christmas tradition. Tim said it was one of the most bizarre things he's ever seen, like if he somehow went into the future and saw a crazy version of what someone thought Christmas should be like. I used to go to this every year when I was little growing up in Florida. I mostly remember going and getting my picture taken with Santa. Even though I thought I remember loving this place when I was little, my mom says this place scared me.

Tea Time at Tyme for Tea

It was a wonderfully crisp sunny Fall day last Saturday when I went out for tea with a friend to Tyme for Tea

As I mentioned in my last tea post just a few weeks ago, Tyme For Tea is one of my favorite places for tea. I'm going to keep this post short and sweet though since my last tea post wasn't so long ago and at the same location. I just wanted to share some pics with you all from my last tea outing <3

Outfit of the Day: Plaid for Fall

Hello Kittens!

Last weekend I got to go out with a friend for tea on Saturday (tea outing post coming soon). It was such a lovely time out and a great tea date spending one-on-one time with a friend. After tea I did a few errands around town basking in the most wonderful crisp sunny fall weather (especially after what seems like days and days of rain). Then I finished off the day playing arcade games and skeeball with Tim at Dave and Buster's. It was a really great day.

Outfit of the Day:

For this day's activities I decided to wear one of my most favorite dresses, one of two first dresses I ever bought from Trashy Diva, my Trashy Diva Streetcar dress in brown plaid. I paired this with a black crochet-styled shrug by Elle which I bought from Kohl's a few years ago and a pair of Jessica Simpson Mandalaye ballet flats which I bought from Macy's about a year or two ago. For a finishing touch I wore a pair of pink topaz stud earrings which I bought from Overstock.com several years ago.

Outfit of the Day: Last Halloween Outfit

Well, not the last Halloween outfit ever ;) but probably the last one for the year anyway

I was ecstatic when I saw this Pinup Girl Clothing Petite Jenny skirt in Pumpkin Border print pop up back in stock in my size on the PUG website, and just in time for Halloween this year! Out of all the Halloween prints by Stephanie Buscema stocked by PUG this year, this pumpkin border print was my favorite design. It features cute little pumpkins all over along the skirt and adorable black cats on a fence above that. I do wish that they would have done this print as a pleated skirt as I think it would have shown off the cats better that way, but I could be wrong. Either way, I love that I was able to add this skirt to my collection this year!

Outfit of the Day (Halloween):

I took the day off of work on Halloween. Mostly I just stayed home, baked pumpkin bread, carved my pumpkins, and watched horror movies. But I did leave the house to get a pumpkin spice latte and stopped by Baskin Robbins to see if they go in their candy corn ice cream yet.

For my quick jaunt out I decided to wear my new PUG Petite Jenny skirt in Pumpkin Border print so I could ensure to get at least one wear out of it before the end of the Halloween season. I paired this with a black cotton mandarin collar shirt I got several years ago from Target, a 3/4 sleeve black mohair cardigan I got from a boutique shop in Australia also several years ago, and some basic black flats.

A bit out of order, and out of the ordinary, I just wanted to share with you all my Halloween costume for this year, Jem, which I wore out to a party on Saturday. :D

And also, here are my finished Jack-o-lanterns :)

Happy belated Halloween Kittens! I hope you all had a great Halloween this year! :)

Matching Your Dress to Your Teaware Part 30: Halloween Edition #2

"Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore."

With it being the season of dress up I thought another special Halloween Edition of Perfect Pairings was in order! (You can see the first one from last year here.)

The Hopscotch dress in blue and white gingham by Trashy Diva is the perfect dress for channeling Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz! It features a classic a-line shape with flared skirt, a contrasting white top with a high peter pan collar that secures closed at the top, there are decorative pearl buttons on white discs which give this dress an extra edge of cuteness, and of course, then you have the blue and white gingham!

I knew right away this dress had to be featured in a Halloween Edition of of Perfect Pairings! Then when I first saw Paul Cardew's Wizard of Oz teapot I knew I really had a Perfect Pairing indeed! The Paul Cardew teapot features several illustrated scenes from the movie including a ferocious tornado depicted on the spout of the teapot and a harmonious rainbow on the handle. Another feature that I really love about this teapot is a quote from the movie portrayed in an asymmetric cylindrical pattern around the top portion of the teapot. Because of the asymmetric cylindrical design and the changing size of the font, it's like the words themselves are flying around, trapped in the force of the tornado. My all time favorite feature of this teapot though is the cheeky Toto on the lid of the teapot. He stands crouched with his little tail up while standing on the yellow brick road. Such a cute dog and such a great teapot!

Happy Halloween Kittens! I hope you all have a great Halloween weekend and great Halloween day on Monday!

October Tea at Tyme for Tea

It was a dark and rainy day-- a perfect day for an October tea!

As promised in one of my previous corresponding Outfit of the Day posts, here are pics and a run down from my latest tea time adventure.

It feels like it's been a while since I last went to one of my favorite places for tea, Tyme for Tea in Fremont. In fact, while savoring the warm sweet creamy drink in my tea cup my friend and I tried to figure the last time we were here. We couldn't come up with a consensus other than we both agreed it's been some time.

Tyme for Tea is a quaint tea room which shares its location with a largish antique and teaware shop in the historic Niles district of Fremont (home of many Charlie Chaplin movies!).

For afternoon tea I chose to get the Victorian tea which included a scone with fresh cream, lemon curd, and preserves, five assorted tea sandwiches which included a chicken salad sandwich, cucumber and cream cheese sandwich, a mushroom turnover, a spinach pastry, and an open face melted jalapeno cheese sandwich, and three desserts. By the time the tasty desserts arrived I was full but did manage to eat my peanut butter honeycomb dessert while taking home my butter cookie and petit four for a special treat for later.  For tea, I chose my favorite a Rooibos tea, this time in an almond coconut macaroon flavor.

Selection of desserts-- missing the peanut butter honeycomb which I ate before I remembered to take pics!

As always it was a super special treat to get to go out with a friend for tea and was made all the more sweet staying dry with warm tea inside while it remained grey and rainy outdoors.

Until the next time!
