Matching Your Dress to Your Teaware Part 30: Halloween Edition #2

"Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore."

With it being the season of dress up I thought another special Halloween Edition of Perfect Pairings was in order! (You can see the first one from last year here.)

The Hopscotch dress in blue and white gingham by Trashy Diva is the perfect dress for channeling Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz! It features a classic a-line shape with flared skirt, a contrasting white top with a high peter pan collar that secures closed at the top, there are decorative pearl buttons on white discs which give this dress an extra edge of cuteness, and of course, then you have the blue and white gingham!

I knew right away this dress had to be featured in a Halloween Edition of of Perfect Pairings! Then when I first saw Paul Cardew's Wizard of Oz teapot I knew I really had a Perfect Pairing indeed! The Paul Cardew teapot features several illustrated scenes from the movie including a ferocious tornado depicted on the spout of the teapot and a harmonious rainbow on the handle. Another feature that I really love about this teapot is a quote from the movie portrayed in an asymmetric cylindrical pattern around the top portion of the teapot. Because of the asymmetric cylindrical design and the changing size of the font, it's like the words themselves are flying around, trapped in the force of the tornado. My all time favorite feature of this teapot though is the cheeky Toto on the lid of the teapot. He stands crouched with his little tail up while standing on the yellow brick road. Such a cute dog and such a great teapot!

Matching Your Dress to your Teaware Part 21: Halloween Edition #1

Happy Halloween Kittens!

In celebration of Halloween being just around the corner I wanted to post an extra special edition of Matching Your Dress to your Teaware featuring a modern take on Snow White!

I paired together an outfit that, to me, gave the vibe of Snow White. To create this look I wore my Trashy Diva yellow Maria dress with a true blue Heart of Haute Sweet sweater. For the final finishing touch I added a red bow headband which I feel really sets off the look!

I paired this with an adorable Snow White tea for one by Cardew which I found on Amazon.com.  While the Snow White on this tea for one is its own unique take on Snow White, I feel that the effect itself is perfect for Halloween.

This Cardew tea for one features an all over print of several different scenes throughout the story of Snow White. The colors are brilliant and abundant. It also features roses at the handle of the teapot which continues on the handle of the cup. One of my favorite things on novelty teapots is when quotes are incorporated into the design as they are here on the lid of the teapot with the words "Once upon a time in midwinter..." And again on the inside of the cup with the words, "Mirror, mirror, on the wall... who is the fairest of them all?" The placement itself is ingenious, creating a beautiful visual harmony throughout the two pieces.

Hope you all have a happy Halloween!

Matching Your Dress To Your Teaware Part 18: Butterflies Aplenty!

It's that time again Kittens for another Perfect Pairing!

I'm in LOVE with pairing! Butterflies are aplenty!

Whenever I see butterflies anything I always think of my mom. She is the biggest fan of butterflies that I know. I remember as a little kid growing up she would have butterfly pictures all over the house and I remember her always getting so excited and pointing out whenever there were butterflies outside in our path. It seems that we were always running into butterflies.

I'm not sure if there just aren't as many butterflies out and about as there were in the world or if being in northern California now rather than where we lived before in south Florida when I was younger the butterfly population is just not as big. But whenever I see a butterfly it always reminds me of all those good memories growing up and reminds me of my childhood.

As much as I love this pairing I am even more in love with this dress! It's a crazy hard dress to find but I was fortunate enough to be loaned it for a bit from the most amazing women ever! This dress features huge Monarch butterflies in brown, orange, and yellow throughout the dress. It's like if someone released the floodgates and all the butterflies came spilling out!

When I saw that one of my favorite novelty teapot makers, Cardew Designs, makes a teapot that features all over butterflies on it I knew I had to make a pairing of these two!

The Butterflies teapot features butterflies of all kinds of species in an all over pattern throughout the pot. And because they are of all kinds of species, there are lots of colors throughout the pot! A solo sculptured monarch butterfly sits at the lid of the pot, wings spread, ready to take flight! The edging of the lid, top of the teapot, and handle all have a detailed and brilliantly saturated monarch pattern embellishing the pot.

Both pieces, the dress and the teapot, are such amazing things but together it's like a little bit of magic! Thank you so much to my incredible, wonderful friend for letting me borrow this dress! I can't wait to wear it out on my birthday coming up in a few weeks! <3 Reader friends, you will be seeing more of this dress in the upcoming weeks

Matching Your Dress To Your Teaware Part 17: Rockets in July!

I hope you all in the US had a wonderful 4th of July holiday!

Tim was out camping with friends that whole weekend but I was able to drive out to them to spend time with them by the lake, had some great BBQ, and even got home just in time to see all the fireworks going off! With all the fireworks exploding in the sky, I thought this rockets teapot by Paul Cardew and my Bernie Dexter Rockets dress would be a perfect teapot and dress pairing to feature for early July!

This beautiful novelty rocket teapot has an incredible shape and amazing metallic embellishments on the lid, base, and decorative windows on the rocket. I love the geometric shape of the spout and that the handle is a fin on the rocket. Also, I love the blue color of the rocket and that it gradates throughout the body of the teapot. Such a super cute and interesting tea pot. It is made in the UK by Paul Cardew and can be found at allteapots.com.

What a lovely tea it would be to pair this teapot with my Bernie Dexter Rocketship dress! The Bernie Dexter Rocketship dress is a blue dress with small colorful rockets throughout the print. Like the Blue Rocket Teapot, geometric shapes are a continuing motif on this dress and can be seen in the over-sized collar and cuffed short sleeves which have a geometric angled cut to them. Also, like the Blue Rocket Teapot, the Bernie Dexter Rocketship dress (while very slightly) has metallic embellishments in the rhinestone centers of the buttons at the shoulders and cuffs of the sleeves.

How I would have loved to pull up a chair and pour myself a cup of tea from this gorgeous teapot while wearing my Bernie Dexter dress watching fireworks on the fourth of July! Such a perfect pair they are!
