Vacation Slideshow: Weekend in Vegas

We went to Vegas the weekend before last to celebrate a friend's birthday

Unfortunately, that meant we missed Viva Las Vegas by just a bit but we still had a blast while we were there.

Day1:

We arrived in Vegas early in the morning. It was a bit too early to check in so we dropped off our bags at the hotel and took a walk down the strip. I love going to all the different casinos and looking in the hotels. We met up with some friends later in the day and shopped a bit at Tatyana and other stores at the Miracle Mile Mall, then that night we all went out together to go see Evil Dead the musical. It was a perfect first day to our trip.

At the lobby of the Bellagio. I love popping in to see this ceiling!

Outfit of the Day (day 1)

For the first day of our trip I wore my Trashy Diva Streetcar dress in Leopard print because after all nothing screams Vegas more to me than leopard! I paired it with a black cardigan for when we were in the cold shade and some ankle strap easy to walk in black flats. For a finishing touch I wore a cat ear headband and some golden ball studs.

At night for the Evil Dead musical I changed into my Stop Staring Bombshell dress. Though I forgot to take closeup pics I wore this with black dot black sheer tights, and my red Ecco flats. For a finishing touch I wore this with a pair of black cat earrings and wore a red feather fascinator in my hair.

Day 2:

The next day Tim and I walked down the strip again to meet up with our friends. We then took a day trip out to Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas. It was a section of town I've never been to. It was super fun exploring around there. At night we were planning on meeting up after changing and checking out some clubs but after we separated to get ready we never were able to enmesh our schedules so Tim and I just wandered around a bit on our own instead before calling it a night.

Outfit of the Day (day 2):

For our second day in Vegas I wore my Lucky 13 Hairspray dress. I always thought of this print as a gambling theme dress though now I have no idea why. It actually is a nautical theme. It features a lady like the kind you might see carved at the front of a boat. It also has anchors, but then also some other random things such as diamonds, cherrys, and the number 13. I paired this with a black cardigan, black ankle strap flats and for a finishing touch, a pair of anchor stud earrings.

For the evening I changed into my Trashy Diva Honey Child dress in Smoke Leopard. I paired this with black sheer back seamed tights, my black ankle strap flats, and for a finishing touch a black feathered hair flower and yellow and green snake earrings.

Day 3:

On our last day our flight didn't leave til later in the evening so it was like getting a bonus day without paying for a hotel. We started the morning with a quick jump in the pool then checked out of the hotel. We were able to have the hotel hold our bags for us while we ran around. We walked down the strip again, met up with our friends again for a bit, did some shopping at the Tatyana store at the Miracle Mile Mall, saw the flamingos at the Flamingo, saw the Bodies exhibit at the Luxor, then played in the arcade at Excalibur until it was time to go catch our plane. It was a surprisingly full day!

Outfit of the Day:

For our last day in Vegas I wore my Tatyana Ping Pong dress. After all, in the land where the brand Tatyana was born I had to represent! I paired this with a black cardigan and my black ankle strap flats. For a finishing touch I wore this with a pair of black cat earrings and a black feathered hair flower.

Matching Your Dress To Your Teaware Part 25: My Wild Irish Rose

Happy St. Patrick's Day Kittens!

I feel like it's been a while since I last featured a perfect pairing but with the St. Patrick's holiday here I could not let this opportunity pass me by.

I found this gorgeous vintage Lefton Shamrock teapot on Etsy from the Etsy shop, Delights by Judy. This teapot is the perfect tea companion for St. Patrick's day. It is a classic beauty which features golden gilding along its trim and a beautiful double-hued green shamrock pattern throughout its body. A surprisingly fun secret that you won't know just looking at it though is that it is also a musical teapot which plays the tune of "My Sweet Irish Rose." Such a sweet and darling teapot it is!

This teapot would go so gorgeously with Trashy Diva's Jade Watercolor print! The Jade Watercolor print features an all over multi-shaded green print of shamrocks, leaves, and roses. The Lena top and circle skirt is a classic beauty, much like the classic beauty of the Lefton teapot. And like the Lefton teapot, this set holds a fun secret... while it looks like a dress when worn together, it is indeed two pieces!

How perfect it would be to be enjoying some quiet time to the tune of "My Sweet Irish Rose," sipping warm tea from this shamrock teapot, while wearing this shamrock themed dress!

Outfit of the Day: Fancy Birthday Dinner

Salut Mes Amie

Earlier this week on Monday Tim and I went out for a special fancy dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. We went out in a big group for this get together. It was nice getting to celebrate with my friend and getting to see a lot of our other friends as well.

Outfit of the Day:

For the day's festivities I decided to wear my Heart of Haute Monique dress in Peacock Royal. I love the colors on this dress and love how pretty the print is. I paired this with a light turquoisey-blue cardigan I got from Target some years back and a pair of Chelsea Crew seafoam green heels which I got from Modcloth for a great price during their end of the year sale last year. For a finishing touch I wore a pair of light blue tear drop earrings and wore a peacock feather hair piece.

Outfit of the Day: Our Anniversary Weekend

This past week Tim and I celebrated our four year wedding anniversary

Our anniversary was smack dab in the middle of the week but we decided to go out and celebrate at one of our favorite local Italian restaurants anyway. Then when the weekend rolled around on Saturday, we decided to make a day of it going out to lunch and playing a round of indoor ghost themed miniature golf at a place called Ghost Golf. We were also planning on going to the movies and seeing The Witch but we missed the show time. By then it was pouring rain so we decided to save it for Sunday. And so I have an extra bonus third Outfit of the Day for this post!

Outfit of the Day:
Our Anniversary:

The day of our Anniversary I came home from work and found this dress waiting for me. It was a present from Tim! I threw it on straight from the package even though I didn't have time to steam it first. I was so excited to wear it! This is the Trashy Diva Streetcar dress in Forget Me Not Floral. I tried this one on when we were in New Orleans but didn't have the money at the time to buy it and have been pining for it ever since even though I have this print in the Lupe dress. What can I say, I'm such a sucker for the Streetcar dresses! I paired this dress with a vintage black beaded cardigan which I got a few years ago from Etsy and black mary jane heels by Softspots which I got several years ago from Zappos. For a finishing touch I wore this with some large retro style light blue floral earrings from Forever 21. I really love how the light blue in the earrings brings out the blue in the Forget Me Not Floral print.

Saturday:

On Saturday Tim and I were planning on going out for indoor Ghost Golf and then to see the Witch. I had a dress all picked out for the occasion but when the day rolled around I really was in the mood to wear this Trashy Diva Honey Sun dress in Steel Magnolias instead. It was a rainy grey day and I thought the grey in the dress would really match well with the weather. Plus, since it was a cold day I was really in the mood to layer up and have been waiting for the perfect chance to wear this dress layered up all winter. I paired this with a burgundy beaded cardigan by Free People which I found on ebay earlier this year, a grey knit fascinator also from ebay from a couple years ago, grey tights which I got from Nordstrom earlier this year, and a pair of Chelsea Crew heels which I also got from found ebay I think from last year. To add to the layers, and make this dress a little more modest, I wore a grey cami underneath (also from ebay from earlier this year). For a finishing touch I wore this with a pair of silver sparkle dot earrings I got from our local vintage style shop, Vintage Alley, a couple years ago.

Sunday:

While we were planning on watching The Witch on Saturday it turns out there weren't too many show times for it in our area so we ended up deciding to save the movie for Sunday. I didn't mind. This gave me the chance to wear the dress I originally had planned on wearing, a Trashy Diva Audrey dress in black velvet. I paired this with a black cardigan from the Gap from several years ago, my black mary jane Softspot heels, and a pair of mauve ankle socks. For a finishing touch I wore a black sequined headband and black 1920's style drop earrings though I forgot to take the close up shots of this.

Tea Time (Again) At the Claremont Hotel

Last weekend was another weekend for a tea outing

A couple of friends wanted to check out the Claremont Hotel for tea so I made the reservations and off we went!

While I wasn't super impressed with my first tea outing at the Claremont Hotel, there were things that made this trip worth giving tea here a second chance.

When we first got to the Claremont the front parking lot was completely full so we drove around to the side of the building to find more spaces. Parking on the side and walking along the pathway to the entrance allowed us to have a different view of the hotel I didn't have the first time coming here. Now this was the Claremont I expected to see coming up here!

Seeing this different view point of the Claremont and comparing it to the strange entrance I saw upon my first visit here made me wonder if maybe I've been coming through the back entrance of the hotel these past two times. Maybe next time I'm here I will drive or walk around to the other side to see if there is some other kind of grand entrance fitting for the grandeur of this old hotel. A grand entrance does seem like something you would expect from a hotel like this.

Hall to the lobby of the Claremont Hotel... eerily reminds me of The Shining

Anyhow, the tea, as with the first tea trip here, was very elegant, refined, and relaxing... not to mention very modern. The food was delicious as was the berry berry herbal tea I picked for my tea choice of the day. They didn't change anything in the pre-fixe menu from my visit about a month ago but they did somewhat change the seating arrangements a bit. Everything that I loved and enjoyed from my first visit did not change a bit.

Tea time at the Claremont Hotel

A treat to start and to "cleanse the palate"

The full tea spread- tea for three

Overall, knowing what to expect this time around, it was a lovely tea and a great time spent out with friends. Also, knowing this time to be mindful of parking, I learned that after getting our parking ticket validated there's a window outside of the hotel right by the valets where you can pay. If you pay at the gate, it doesn't recognize your parking validation. Parking this time came out to half the price what we paid the first time around!

While it will probably be a long while before I come back for tea at the Claremont again, I definitely wouldn't mind doing so again in the future.

Til the next time Claremont!

Outfit of the Day:

I originally had a completely different dress picked out for tea time but seeing that it was a cool overcast gray day, I decided to wear one of my cooler weather dresses. I figured it might be a while before I would be able to wear my winter wear again so I might as well take advantage of the cooler weather now. I wore my Trashy Diva Mansfield dress in Bordeaux. I recently got this dress from a swap and sell group so I was also happy to have the chance to wear this one out. I paired this with a burgundy beret I got from Forever 21 a last year, a black faux fur scarf I got from ebay also last year, and a pair of mary jane heels by Softspots which I got from Zappos several years ago.
