Outfit of the Day: Red Fans for Dim Sum, Red Roses for the Christmas season, and a Red Beret for Christmas

Wow, it's been a long while since I last posted!

I hope you all are still with me. :) Sorry for the long and unexpected absence.

I have quite a bit of Outfit of the Days posts, a Black Friday haul review, a roundup of my favorite outfits from 2016, and reviews on two new dress releases from Trashy Diva all in the works and coming down the pipeline! As well as a long backlog of blog posts from people I follow that I'm looking forward to catching up on! Well, I'd better hop to it then!

Outfit of the Day (Saturday, late December):

Late one weekend in December I went out with a friend for Dim Sum. For the occasion I decided to wear my Trashy Diva Virginia Shirtwaist dress in Red Fans. It didn't even occur to me that it depicts a Japanese scene not a Chinese scene-- Whoops! Will I let that stop me next time? Probably not. It's just such a great dress for any occasion. I paired this with brown sweater tights from Target which I got last year, red Ecco flats which I found on ebay also last year, and a beige wrap coat Tim got for me from Target several years ago. For a finishing touch I paired the dress with a red belt from a Hell Bunny dress I have since this dress sadly did not come with a belt.

Outfit of the Day (the day before Christmas Eve):

The day before Christmas Eve another friend and I were planning on going for a hike but it ended up being a rainy day so we scratched that and went out for indoor miniature golf and lunch instead. New plans meant a different outfit and so this day I wore my Trashy Diva Orlando dress in Red Roses. This is one of my favorite dresses for the Christmas season! I wore this with red tights from Kohl's which I got a couple years ago, red Ecco flats which I found last year on ebay, a red toggle coat I got several years ago from Target, and for a finishing touch, a red beret I got from ebay earlier this year.

Outfit of the Day (Christmas day):

On Christmas day I wore a Trashy Diva Audrey dress in black velvet paired with a Heart of Haute Estelle blouse in Cherries print which I got a couple years ago from Cats Like Us. I also paired this with a red toggle coat I got several years ago from Target, beige sweater tights which I got a few years ago from Kohl's, a red beret from ebay from earlier this year, and these awesome Miss L Fire Maraschino heels which I got from them on sale over the summer.

Outfit of the Day: Our Anniversary Weekend

This past week Tim and I celebrated our four year wedding anniversary

Our anniversary was smack dab in the middle of the week but we decided to go out and celebrate at one of our favorite local Italian restaurants anyway. Then when the weekend rolled around on Saturday, we decided to make a day of it going out to lunch and playing a round of indoor ghost themed miniature golf at a place called Ghost Golf. We were also planning on going to the movies and seeing The Witch but we missed the show time. By then it was pouring rain so we decided to save it for Sunday. And so I have an extra bonus third Outfit of the Day for this post!

Outfit of the Day:
Our Anniversary:

The day of our Anniversary I came home from work and found this dress waiting for me. It was a present from Tim! I threw it on straight from the package even though I didn't have time to steam it first. I was so excited to wear it! This is the Trashy Diva Streetcar dress in Forget Me Not Floral. I tried this one on when we were in New Orleans but didn't have the money at the time to buy it and have been pining for it ever since even though I have this print in the Lupe dress. What can I say, I'm such a sucker for the Streetcar dresses! I paired this dress with a vintage black beaded cardigan which I got a few years ago from Etsy and black mary jane heels by Softspots which I got several years ago from Zappos. For a finishing touch I wore this with some large retro style light blue floral earrings from Forever 21. I really love how the light blue in the earrings brings out the blue in the Forget Me Not Floral print.

Saturday:

On Saturday Tim and I were planning on going out for indoor Ghost Golf and then to see the Witch. I had a dress all picked out for the occasion but when the day rolled around I really was in the mood to wear this Trashy Diva Honey Sun dress in Steel Magnolias instead. It was a rainy grey day and I thought the grey in the dress would really match well with the weather. Plus, since it was a cold day I was really in the mood to layer up and have been waiting for the perfect chance to wear this dress layered up all winter. I paired this with a burgundy beaded cardigan by Free People which I found on ebay earlier this year, a grey knit fascinator also from ebay from a couple years ago, grey tights which I got from Nordstrom earlier this year, and a pair of Chelsea Crew heels which I also got from found ebay I think from last year. To add to the layers, and make this dress a little more modest, I wore a grey cami underneath (also from ebay from earlier this year). For a finishing touch I wore this with a pair of silver sparkle dot earrings I got from our local vintage style shop, Vintage Alley, a couple years ago.

Sunday:

While we were planning on watching The Witch on Saturday it turns out there weren't too many show times for it in our area so we ended up deciding to save the movie for Sunday. I didn't mind. This gave me the chance to wear the dress I originally had planned on wearing, a Trashy Diva Audrey dress in black velvet. I paired this with a black cardigan from the Gap from several years ago, my black mary jane Softspot heels, and a pair of mauve ankle socks. For a finishing touch I wore a black sequined headband and black 1920's style drop earrings though I forgot to take the close up shots of this.

Outfit of the Day: No BBQs but a Couple of Outings for Memorial Day Weekend

We didn't go out to any BBQs during this past Memorial Day weekend but we did have a couple of really fun outings for the long weekend!

On Friday the school we share the building with a my work was having their annual graduation ceremony. The parking lot is always crazy on that day so I opted to stay home and took the day off as a vacation day. I didn't leave the house all day but I stayed home and cleaned the house real good instead which was a great start of the weekend in my book!

Then on Saturday Tim took me out to Chevy's for lunch before I took him out to see the new Poltergeist movie. Lunch was nice. I had my favorite, flautas, and Tim had their crab enchiladas and while I was planning on having a Margarita after lunch I chose instead to try a coffee liqueur drink, which is something I always wanted to try. My drink was coffee, Bailey's Irish cream, and Kahlua. It was alright. If I made it for myself I would put some more creamer and sugar in the drink though. ;) Tim had a yummy rum chata colada.

The movie was alright. I wasn't really expecting much but wanted to see it none-the-less because the original Poltergeist is my favorite American movie ever.

After the movie we went to Target and ran errands, but before heading home Tim treated me to Jamba Juice. I had a peanut butter smoothie... another first for me of things I've always wanted to try. It was fun to get to cross some things off my bucket list. Both the coffee liqueur drink and the peanut butter smoothie were alright but I don't think they would be my first choice again ;)

On Sunday we went to play miniature golf at the place right by our house. We've been living in our house for almost 5 years now and haven't gone yet to play miniature golf so that was nice to finally get to go. After that we went to Nation's for lunch and each had a salmon burger and a slice of pie. After that we walked around the mall for a bit then went home.

On Monday we happily relaxed at home before having to start the work week on Tuesday again.

Outfit of the Day:

Saturday:
I decided to get a little fancy on Saturday with my Trashy Diva Black Velvet Audrey dress. I thought this was the perfect dress to wear to see Poltergeist. I paired this with my black velvet Ginger jacket, also by Trashy Diva and was pleasently surprised how well they went together. It was a little cold that day so I also paired it with some maroon tights, a maroon beret (both from Forever 21), and a pair of velvet mary janes (from Urban Outfitters). For the day I also got out my velvet flocked Coach black ocelot purse which I was happy to find also matched my velvet dress well!

Sunday:
On Sunday I continued with my fancy matchy streak and wore my Trashy Diva Streetcar dress in Irish Polka. I was so excited to get to pair this with the matching Irish Polka headband which I got from a friend as a gift! I also wore it with a pair of Easy Spirit nude flats which my mom bought for me and a neutral colored Coach clutch I picked up from the Coach Outlet about a year ago.
