Outfit Of The Day: Goodbye Halloween

Goodbye Halloween. A tout a l' heure. Sayonara. Until we meet again!

The day after Halloween it is a tradition of mine and Tim's to go to the Spirit Halloween stores to see what is left and what we can pick up for 50% off. I was surprised to see this year that the day after Halloween sales were now 50% home decor and 25% off costumes and accessories... I thought I remember everything in the stores being 50% off. In any case, we had a fun time browsing though the last of the store even though we didn't find much. I account the slim pickings this year to be due to the fact that the day after Halloween was Saturday and more people than usual were able to go to the stores early.

After our stop at the Halloween store Tim took me out the a new crab restaurant in Hayward, Bubble Crab. This new crab restaurant along with another crab restaurant in Union City, Backyard Bayou, kind of make up for my favorite crab place, the Hayward Fishery/Art's Crab Shack, closing. We didn't get a chance to try the crab since both Tim and I opted to try Bubble Crab's gumbo along with a plethora of sides (Cajun fries, lobster balls, and fried zucchini). Even though we didn't try the crab, what we had was delicious! I look forward to going again!

Outfit of the Day:

For this day's activities I wore a forest green Ixia dress from Modcloth, the Convivial Celebration dress, along with a black cardigan, black tights from Forever 21, and black flats from the Gap Outlet.

The Convivial Celebration Dress At Modcloth

This may be the shortest dress you'll ever see on me!

I was thinking of returning this dress initially because it was actually way shorter than I expected, but my husband convinced me to keep it. Considering that I got it for under $50 with a coupon code at Modcloth, and considering that I already had green T-strap shoes to match, it wasn't too hard for me to be convinced.

This dress is a dark forest green A-line dress with a super cute chelsea collar. I've also seen this type of collar being called a pointed peter pan collar. The material is a combination of polyester, rayon, and spandex which helps keep it wrinkle free, gives it a good drape, and allows some stretch for a good fit. This dress features a tailored fit on top from the pleating and hemline under the bust, has a super fitted waist, and has a very nicely flared skirt. I love the A-line silhouette of this dress. The A-line sihouette in combination with the short length and sleeves gives it a very 1960's style and feel. I can't quiet tell if the name of this brand is Ixia, Lxia or 1xia, but whatever their name they designed a great dress!

For reference I purchased this dress in my usual size large and my measurements are 38-31-38, 5'3".

For fun I threw on a hat I also purchased with this dress from Modcloth which together make for a fun summer look.

The Bushels Of Fun hat is made by Kathy Jeanne who also makes the Pure Edith Hat from Modcloth. The Bushels Of Fun hat is a straw hat which features a cluster of cherries on the side. This cloche style hat has a short, drooping brim which is shorter in the back making it easy to wear. Like the Pure Edith Hat the woven texture has a handmade look with the weaving and color of the straw being a little inconsistent at spots. I've been looking for a summer hat with cherries on it since I saw the Louise Green Cherry Doll Hat which is one that I still love but is way out of my price point for hats. This hat by Kathy Jeanne, while not the Louise Green Cherry Doll Hat, is way more modestly priced and is a fun one to have.
