Outfit of the Day: Jason Kitty, French Kitty

While last weekend was a long one (three days with the Labor Day holiday), it was a pretty low key one.

Outfit of the Day (Saturday):

On Saturday I was out of the house earlier than usual to pick up some bagels for breakfast and then later in the day I went out shopping for jeans at Old Navy and Macy's. It's news to me that major retailers like these are now stocking high waisted jeans! I love that high waisted jeans are back! I hope they will never leave again. Anyhow, when I was picking out what to wear for the day I had it in my mind that this was going to be another modern take on an 80's does 50's look (see my last look here)... I mean heart printed top, chambray skirt?? Sounds pretty 80's influenced to me. But when I had everything on together I realized it didn't really look all that 80's inspired at all, maybe a little 60's school girl geek chic? Anyhow, I dug it, so that is what I wore for the day.

I paired my Trashy Diva Chambray Circle skirt with a red and blue heart printed top (gifted a couple years ago from a friend), a red cropped cardigan I got from Forever 21 several years ago (oh why did I not buy the white and black versions of this cardigan while I was at it!), and classic red Vans. For finishing touches I also added a red belt which I took from one of my Hell Bunny dresses, a new Friday the 13th inspired Jason Kitty brooch which I got from the wonderful Etsy shop DanielleVGreen about a week ago (thank you Junebugs and Georgia Peaches for pointing me in her direction and thank you Danielle for being such a wonderful and accommodating seller). I also wore this with red button stud earrings which I got from a local retro reproduction shop, Vintage Alley, a couple years ago, and a charm bracelet with a Mickey tee charm (I think from Disneyland several years ago) and a cupcake charm another friend made for me several years go.

Outfit of the Day (Sunday):

Sunday was another low key day. In the morning I helped my husband out with some projects he wanted to get done in the backyard and for a reward he took me out to lunch at Chili's. After lunch we wandered around the mall for a bit, checking out the toy store and where they are in the works of putting together the seasonal Halloween haunted house, Fear Overload. We've never been to this one in the mall before but we are definitely looking forward to making it happen this year.

There was no particular reason why I chose this outfit to wear this day other than I knew Autumn will be coming soon and we are on the last few relatively warm enough days to wear this Bernie Dexter Paris dress in Turquoise and Red Frenchie (i.e. Eiffel Tower print). I got this dress just recently as an extra birthday gift from my husband which he got from Zulily. I paired it with a light blue/turquoisey cardigan I got from Target several years ago and red Vans. For a finishing touch I wore my Erstwilder Farrah the French Kitty Brooch and a pair of red floral studs which I got from Forever 21 several years ago.

Matching You Teaware to Your Dresses Part 26: Daisy Chain

It's Spring!

And what better way to celebrate Spring than with a refreshingly warm cup of herbal floral tea... perhaps something with rose hip, or lavender, or camomile in it? And in that vein, what better way to celebrate than with a floral perfect pairing to kick start this new blossoming season?

I found this Fred Roberts Daisy pattern teapot a few weeks ago on Etsy and could not resist adding it to my collection. How perfectly does this teapot evoke the feeling of Spring? With the all over molded flowers and touches of branches springing from the spout and the handle it's as though this teapot is blossoming as you look at it! The pops of white and yellow in the contrasting daisies only add to this blooming effect.

When I first saw this molded floral teapot I was amazed at how perfectly well it matches with Bernie Dexter's Paris dress in Daisy print, one of her newest dresses for the Spring season! Like the daisy teapot, this Bernie Dexter dress features an all over green background with pops of blooming white and yellow daisies all over. It's like this dress is blossoming as you look at it. This is Spring in a dress!

How wonderful it would be to have an outdoor garden tea party, or perhaps just a tea party for one, sipping tea from this teapot while relaxing amongst the blooming flowers in a dress which in itself invokes the glory of Spring?

Outfit of the Day: Triple Outfits for a Long Fourth of July Weekend!

I do love dressing in themes!

I think I love it so much I even do it unintentionally at times, as was the case over the long fourth of the July weekend! I hadn't noticed before putting this blog post together but as coincidence has it I ended up wearing reddish and bluish tones all weekend long over the red, white, and blue weekend.

On Friday, I got to take the day off of work and instead of spending all my time indoors I went out with my friend to Half Moon Bay for a beach outing! It was a wonderful day. We stopped in the downtown area for some lunch and a little window shopping then headed to the beach for a bit of tea on the beach!

On Saturday, I drove out to San Andreas to where Tim was camping with this friends. We spent the better part of the day out at the lake there soaking up the sun and enjoying the water. I got home just in time that night to see all the fireworks at home!

Then, while Sunday was a lazy and relaxing day for me at home, on Monday Tim and I and a bunch of our friends went out to the boardwalk in Santa Cruz. We had a great time riding the rides, playing laser tag, eating fish and chips, and eating chocolate covered ice cream cones.

What about the outfits though, you may ask? Well here they are!

Outfit of the Day:
Friday:

For a day at the beach I opted to wear my Trashy Diva Aloha dress in Tropical Sangria print. I paired this with my black flats but only for driving and walking around downtown. For the beach part of my day it was all about the comfy flip flops! For when it got chilly (and boy did it get chilly) I brought along my peach cardigan which I got from Target a couple years ago.

Saturday:

For fourth of July I chose to wear any easy to wear teal dress by Lush which I got a few years ago from Nordstrom Rack. I paired this with my black flats for driving and my flip flops for the lake. For my day trip I packed up my wicker cat tote which I got from ebay a few weeks ago!

Monday:

For Monday I wore my new Bernie Dexter Paris Pinup dress in BBQ print. I've been desperately searching for the Beatrice dress in this print (the version with the contrasting black shelf bust) for over a year. While I'm sad I have never found the Beatrice dress for purchase I was over the moon when I saw that Bernie Dexter brought this print back!

For Monday, we were originally planning on having a beach BBQ so I had this dress all picked out. Though we never got around the the BBQ part of the day, it was great to finally get this dress out in the closet! I paired this dress with my ankle strap flats by Blowfish and a black cardigan from the Gap for when it got cooler at night.
