Matching Your Dress To Your Teaware Part 18: Butterflies Aplenty!

It's that time again Kittens for another Perfect Pairing!

I'm in LOVE with pairing! Butterflies are aplenty!

Whenever I see butterflies anything I always think of my mom. She is the biggest fan of butterflies that I know. I remember as a little kid growing up she would have butterfly pictures all over the house and I remember her always getting so excited and pointing out whenever there were butterflies outside in our path. It seems that we were always running into butterflies.

I'm not sure if there just aren't as many butterflies out and about as there were in the world or if being in northern California now rather than where we lived before in south Florida when I was younger the butterfly population is just not as big. But whenever I see a butterfly it always reminds me of all those good memories growing up and reminds me of my childhood.

As much as I love this pairing I am even more in love with this dress! It's a crazy hard dress to find but I was fortunate enough to be loaned it for a bit from the most amazing women ever! This dress features huge Monarch butterflies in brown, orange, and yellow throughout the dress. It's like if someone released the floodgates and all the butterflies came spilling out!

When I saw that one of my favorite novelty teapot makers, Cardew Designs, makes a teapot that features all over butterflies on it I knew I had to make a pairing of these two!

The Butterflies teapot features butterflies of all kinds of species in an all over pattern throughout the pot. And because they are of all kinds of species, there are lots of colors throughout the pot! A solo sculptured monarch butterfly sits at the lid of the pot, wings spread, ready to take flight! The edging of the lid, top of the teapot, and handle all have a detailed and brilliantly saturated monarch pattern embellishing the pot.

Both pieces, the dress and the teapot, are such amazing things but together it's like a little bit of magic! Thank you so much to my incredible, wonderful friend for letting me borrow this dress! I can't wait to wear it out on my birthday coming up in a few weeks! <3 Reader friends, you will be seeing more of this dress in the upcoming weeks

  4. It's quite unusual to see a butterfly print that isn't twee - but this one really isn't. It's really quite classic - lovely!

    1. CiCi, Yes! This print is actually based on an old 1950's/1960's novelty print. I heard that originally originally it was a design by Emma Domb though that would be so unusual since she is mainly known for her spectacular evening and cocktail gowns. But apparently the story goes that it's an original pattern by Emma Domb then other people manufactured things in this print in the 50's and 60's. <3 I'd love to learn more about this print if I could. It's such a gorgeous print!
